The Extra Tax Refund Money We Are Getting Back This Year, Is It Just This Year Or Every Year? – YAHOO ANSWER

i havent heard too much about it and just received a letter from the irs through the mail about the extra money thats being given. so im just wondering is this a one time thing or can something like this happen every year?

    It’s just this year (hopefully). It’s only done when the economy is in great distress. The last time it was done was in 2001. Just like this time, in 2001 it was a one-time credit that DID NOT have to be claimed as income on the next year’s taxes.

    It’s called the “Economic Stimulus Payment”.
    It is just for this year.

    Just this year. And if it’s like the last one, you’ll have to report it as income for next years taxes.

    The last time a rebate was done was in 2001.
    Just like last time, this IS NOT income on your next year’s return. You will fill out a worksheet and indicate that you already received the money–and people will ***** that it was taxable/had to be paid back. NOT TRUE. You just don’t get the money twice. The worksheet is a 2nd chance for people who didn’t get the money early.
