Google adsense is only effective though if your website is popular. What happens is you put google adverts on your website which are linked to your Google Adsense account. When people click these adverts it is recorded and some money is sent to your account.
The more popular or interesting your website, the more people will visit, then a bigger chance a few of these people will actually click your adverts.
Do some research on what sort of websites people are interested in and tips and tricks on how to attract people to visit your website instead of the billions of other websites out there.
If your intent is to make money you need to understand how a search engine works. You want to use what are called keywords in your articles.
So lets say you want people who type “make money online” in google to find your site. You would first want to get a dot com, or dot net domain with your main keyword in it. like http://www.make-money-online.com. In your articles you write, you want to use that keyword once every paragraph, and also keywords like “how to make money online” or “easy money online”

then for a $1 a year off of yahoo.com buy a redirect
so when you go to your $1 web site jenspizza.com you will be viewing the jenspizza.thisisafreepage.ur but yes blogs are a free way of advertising
try with blogspot.com. it is very easy for you to start with, also you can have good adsense
