Tips On Starting A Home Based Business?

I want to earn a second income. Something I can do part-time so I figured an online home business. Something to sell on eBay perhaps.
Does anyone have any pointers on getting started or what to do first hand?
What is a good product to sell?
Should I skip eBay and just sell directly from my own website?

ebay sucks! if you want to sell something sell it on http://www.craigslist.org its free,
i use to be a power seller on ebay but they kept raising there fees so i got out,
back in the early 80′s i had a balloon business i decorated for events and also dressed up in a shocking pink gorilla suit with a tutu with a doz helium balloons and did the happy birthday song or at peoples front door for 25 dollars it was cash on delivery and i made a ton of cash but i got burnt out after 10 years but i think you can still make a lot of cash doing it.

I think selling on your own website is best. Ebay is OK but not really all it used to be now. You can do both easily.
I love what I do as my second income (will be my primary income in a short tie in fact)
If you like fitness products now is a great time to be in that market. A lot of new years resolutions will be around health and wellness.
I found the Team beachbody opportunity late last year and am very glad I did! I love fitness and needed to get back in shape myself.
Now I get to help others and I am getting paid!
The products sell easily since almost everyone has heard of them and they really do “work”
The company give a great website to sell products and with a Paypal Account you can sell on your own too very easily.
    Hope that helps!

ebay’s a good place to start to learn the ins and outs of online selling, and the pitfalls that can come with it. A website is better but can take longer to get established. So I’d start on ebay and while that’s going, get a website running (depending on what you want so sell)
What’s a good product? You need to research what’s hot, what you can get your hands on, what suppliers/ wholesalers you can get contracts with, how much space you have to store inventory… etc
(Other businesses/ sellers won’t give up that good info easily.)
If it’s only to be part time, then I’d start quite small – even selling 2nd hand stuff & look into trading assistants. Some people do well with that, others don’t. Be picky about what you sell.
It’s a good place to start. I started off selling 2nd hand stuff on ebay years ago for a bit of extra pocket money, and now have 2 websites & a bunch of staff.

Go for niche markets. Look for items that are accessories to big ticket items. Like cases for ipods and power cords for laptops. Accessories are where the higher markup is.
Why don’t you sell on eBay and your own web site? If you have questions on how to do it, just ask.

Use Ebay, much easier and much less work. If you have your own site, you will have to do all the PR stuff yourself, while Ebay is very well known.
